Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari, says it is not in order for anyone to say she does not deserve to have been made the ambassador for 2016 Golden Movie Awards.
The appointment of Nadia Buari was met with reactions from a section of the public who argued that she did not merit it because she has not been active in the movie industry for some time.
Reacting to the remarks on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Thursday, Nadia said her break from the screens to be a mother should not be seen as inactiveness.
“It’s very bad for anybody to think that. I think everybody is aware of the fact that I took some time off to be a mother. So I feel like it’s really wrong for anybody to regard motherhood as dormancy. I think it’s the greatest job in the world. But besides that, I have been active. When I started acting, I was hungry for the experience and exposure and I think by God’s grace, I have gained that so for now, I’m basically taking my time and being selective,” she said.
On whether her appointment came with financial benefits, Nadia responded, “All I know is, I was made an ambassador because I’m a major player in the movie industry. I’m basically to create the awareness for the organisation.”
Organisers of Golden Movie Awards Africa announced Nadia Buari as the ambassador for the scheme during the official launch at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.
